Bio

Duubar Villalobos Jimenez is a data scientist in the making, currently holding a bachelor’s in Mathematics, Computer Science and Education from the Technological Institute of Costa Rica. Duubar is presently working at Montefiore Medical Center in the Finance Department, analyzing thousands of healthcare payments denied claims from Medicaid.

Duubar is currently earning his online Master’s degree in Data Science at the City University of New York School of Professional Studies. He is interested in providing easy to read data visualizations to provide insights that anyone can understand based on factual data. Some of his preferred scientific packages are Open Source, in particular, Python and R. Duubar, currently master MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, SQLite, shiny, RMarkdown, Plot.ly, Rvest, Dash, Flask, Pandas, Jupyter notebooks, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Docker, Git and AWS along Ubuntu Linux tools that allow him create stunning websites with R Markdown and also dashboards powered by Python.

During his master’s training, he got the Growth and Development Award (2018) from the City University of New York School of Professional Studies Students Association. Another achievement under his belt is the culmination of the CUNY Malave Leadership Academy, in which Duubar received his certificate as a Global Leader in May 2019. Duubar is also an active support member for the launch of the student’s news site, “The Kiosk.” With a current GPA of 4.0, Duubar got his membership acceptance at the National Society of Leadership and Success back in 2018.

One of Duubar’s most significant accomplishments is to provide guidance and support to his fellow team members and classmates by sharing valuable information and insights with them regularly.

Professional Experience

Duubar joined Montefiore Medical Center as a part-time Lab Helper in 2014, and since then he has been working in diverse hospital campuses and work areas as a full-time employee; his most recent position is in the Finance Department. Some areas of interest are inventory control management, waste reduction, patient safety, registration errors, accurate claim processing, proper claim reimbursement, and timely billing. An essential aspect for these positions is that Montefiore has provided a tremendous amount of patient care related knowledge; such as rules, and regulations from the inside out.

Previously, Duubar has worked for Rainforest Cafe as a full-time accountant employee for 11 years (from 2003 ~ 2014). Some of his functions were related to inventory management, payroll management, labor forecasting, sales forecasting, customer service, budgeting, financial ledger, audits, and training. An essential aspect of this job is that it allowed Duubar to gain tremendous insights from the corporate world.

During the downturn of the recession back in 2009, Duubar started a new project as a freelancer by offering on-call IT services in which Duubar helped many people with their system security and breakdowns. Some of the services Duubar used to provide were: virus removals, data recovery, system recovery, broken part replacements, memory and hard drive upgrades, dynamic web site design (using Joomla and WordPress) and custom database scheme and construction using Microsoft Access and Excel.

Duubar also held various positions at diverse retail companies such as Swarovski (2007 ~ 2009) as a sales ambassador from which he attained the gold swan status multiple times (highest award for outstanding customer service and sales). Jos A. Bank as a sales consultant (2006~2008). Whitehall Jewelers as a luxury sales consultant (2008 ~ 2009). Macy’s as a seasonal sales consultant (2004 ~ 2006). These positions allowed Duubar to learn and put into practice insights, techniques, and proven models; for which they have shown how they succeeded. Duubar keeps providing valuable knowledge to inventory management departments with excellent customer satisfaction and customer retention, thus, avoiding churn.

In 2002 Duubar worked as a Mathematics teacher for 7th and 8th grades at the SEK International School based in Costa Rica. During that year, Duubar thaught topics related to Algebra, Trigonometry, and Geometry. Some of the highlights are the participation of identified students with mathematical aptitude in the National Costarrican Mathematical Championship for the first time and the subsequent gold medal prize for one of them.

Before then, as a student of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Technological Institute of Costa Rica; Duubar served as president of the Student’s Association; also back in 2000, Duubar served as a student’s representative member with the Institute’s highest board of decision-making members. During that period, Duubar served as the career’s Coordinator Assistant; helped with the organization of various National and International engineering and scientific conferences involving renowned aerospace scientists and also participated as a speaker in multiple national conferences related to education, technology, and mathematics.
